DailySkew 2011 Baseball Predictions- 2011 MLB Picks
Hey folks, just wanted to get these early predictions in from Damian Hospital and Tony Vahl before we switch servers (making backup of this site again right after this post). These predictions are subject to Spring Training injuries (we usually publish our MLB predictions right on or before Opening Day.
Tony Vahl’s 2011 MLB Predictions
What the heck:
AL Div Winners:
Yanks
White Sox
Athletics
WC: Rangers
Rays finish 2nd, Theo Epstein feeling the heat, Jays and Orioles tighten the AL East.
NL Div Winners:
Phils
Reds
Dodge
WC: Brewers
The Mets fans will BELIEVE at some point this year … Cards/LaRussa and Pujols thing could get ugly up in here, up in here … Fredi Gonzalez will help the Braves regress to the mean.
Damian Hospital responds:
Anything can happen…here are my initial thoughts:
- Fredi Gonzalez- the Marlins had horrible defense and bullpen last year yet this guy is supposed to be a “fundamentals” guy. John Kruk said the Braves improved, but I haven’t checked them out yet.
- Brewers’ pitching staff reminds me of a good Cardinals team (schlock names that somehow do it).
- Personally tired of picking Ozzie Guillen and the Twins.
- A’s burn me every year, but it’s time for Billy Beane to pay off.
- I will have to jinx the Red Sox in my post.
- Rangers could have very well peaked last year.
- Mattingly isn’t the luckiest Yankees player…the Dodger’s owner’s divorce and lack of budget could kill morale of the veterans. NL West is open again.
- Hard for me to be sold on a Reds team two years in a row (Pete Rose was the only manager in recent memory to be consistent [2nd place]). The Reds never had back-to-back 90+ win seasons since the Big Red Machine, and I believe in franchise personalities. [
- Hoping for a Phillies collapse, so will pick them, too.
- Marlins may be a total shocker in the NL East or Wild Card since so many guys are young.
Tony Vahl:
Definitely rooting for someone to take the Phillies. The Marlins are due for
another magical run, right?
Damian Hospital:
Yes, the Marlins are due. John Kruk on ESPN said they are too young and
inexperienced. Guess he slept through 2003.
Damian Hospital’s 2011 Predictions:
Red Sox
Yankees
Tigers
A’s
Phillies
Marlins
Brewers
Padres
