With a lineup featuring Juan Miranda, Randy Winn, and Greg Golson batting 7-9, the New York Yankees couldn’t mount any offense against Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander. CC Sabathia (4-2, 3.71 ERA) had a pretty bad game, as he allowed back to back homeruns in the 6th inning. The Tigers won the series 3 games to 1, and today’s game 6-0.
Nick Swisher was out with a bicep pull, but he said the Yankees trainer Steve Donahue took care of him, and he will be fine tomorrow. Ivan Nova made his relief pitching debut, and allowed no run in 2 innings in a low pressure game. He seems to throw 92-93 MPH and has a nice breaking ball.
Yankees Transactions: Kevin Russo was sent down, and 1B Juan Miranda was called up.
The Yankees limp back home to face the Twins tomorrow night.
