Rays SWEEP Yanks; Andy Pettitte Crushed

And now...THE METS

And so it ends…Andy Pettitte’s (5-1, 2.68) undefeated streak comes to an end, and does any optimism in New York- at least until a next month when some of the injured players will come back. The Yankees limp into Citi Field to face the New York Mets, who are in the middle of a crisis of their own: the players rebelled against manager Jerry Manuel, and the Mets Hierarchy is playing Hangman with Manuel- not that I care.

Oh, back to last night’s game featuring the Tampa Bay Rays and NY Yankees: Pettitte was unable to stop the Rays offense from coming back, not matter how much the Yankees hitters tried to give him the lead. Derek Jeter and Juan Miranda carried the team. The Yanks clawed back, but fell 8-6. It’s not like the Yanks just take losing easily.

Dave Robertson got the fans pumped with 2 shutout innings and 4K. Chan Ho Park caused a revolt as he gave up another long ball.

Yankees Transactions: Kevin Russo and Chad Moeller are on the team. Nick Johnson is now on the 60-day DL. Nick Swisher played last night, but there’s no telling when his bicep will hurt again.

Bud Selig rejected the Yankees Josh Beckett protest.

Brian Cashman said he will not make any trades, and will not bring up Jesus Montero. So this is the team, folks. Let’s go try and make the Wild Card!

Now for all of the frustration Yankees fans have, Mets fans have it worse. Who will will this Subway Series? A sweep for any team will result in an atomic detonation. Place yer bets!

Gang, with the Wilpons as the team owners, we shouldn't even think about next year, or the year after that. It took me a while, but the bitter reality has set in–as long as they continue to revere a team that was in NYC 50 years ago and not the team they currently own, the Mets will go nowhere. They had to listen to a lot of “sharp criticism” over the lack of Mets' memorabilia (sp?) in the new stadium before agreeing, probably grudgingly, that the stadium of the New York Mets actually should have memories of the New York Mets in it! We are screwed as fans unless the Wilpons sell the team, preferably to fans of the New York Mets. Not the Brooklyn Dodgers, but the New York Mets.

If the Wilpons have such fond memories of the Brooklyn Dodgers, they should approach the ownership of the Dodgers, buy the team, and move them to CitiField.

Derek Jeter – Rookie of the Year, 3 Gold Gloves at a much tougher position, 3 Silver Slugger Awards, World Series MVP, All-Star MVP, 4 World Series rings, and captain of the most famous team in the world.

Most importantly? He plays the game clean and correctly, he is a great role model for the fans, and there is never controversy surrounding him.

Tony Armas Jr, huh? When I saw he was available last offseason I was saying the M's should get him. Young and Improving and is twice the pitcher Meche is at half the cost. But if we are truly talking about Nationals Pitchers, I'd love to see Livan in an M's uni. He's had a piss poor start to the year and the nationals look like the are headed for the cellar, so we might be able to pry him from their grasp. Livan as a 3 or 4 giving you 230+ innings a year? That would be sick. Maybe they'll throw in Nick Johnson for taking him off their hands.
