Francisco Cervelli, A.J. Burnett Crush Orioles, Win Series

yankees backup catcher

Hometown hero Francisco Cervelli

A.J. Burnett (4-0, 1.99 ERA) threw another gem, and since he got off to his hottest start, I’m willing to have faith in him again. The big news story that is being repeated all over the newswires is that CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett, Andy Pettitte, and Phil Hughes are a combined 14-1 with a 2.15 ERA. Francisco Cervelli was again opened many people’s eyes last night by being everywhere, hitting, and having such an enthusiastic outlook with the game. Fans liked Francisco Cervelli’s work ethic and attitude since Day 1 last year, and CC Sabathia went out of his way to force the Yanks to give him a full share of the World Series pool. Francisco Cervelli does everything right behind the plate, and his hot start in 2010 may be causing Brian Cashman to reevaluate his scouting reports.

Damaso Marte and Alfredo Aceves got one out each, and Joba Chamberlain struck out 2 to get is 2nd save, while Mariano Rivera rests his side muscles. I don’t see how the Baltimore Orioles swept the Boston Red Sox this year. I know the Orioles surprised the Yankees for their 4th win, but the Yanks were in no danger of being swept the last time. The Orioles have poor defense, a weak lineup, bad bullpen. However they do have starters that have some talent, and a couple of guys in the lineup have some pop in their bats to pull of a few wins.

The Yankees have won 8/9 series (the only blips being the Angels in Anaheim). They won 4-1 last night with a lineup that had Marcus Thames, Ramiro Pena, and Francisco Cervelli.

Yankees transaction: Greg Golson made his Yankees debut in centerfield last night. Looks like he’ll be a late inning defensive replacement or pinch runner. Mark Melancon was sent down to AAA.

Ask Scott Raskin to name the number-one innovation that changed the world of project management and business collaboration, and he has a surprising answer: the whiteboard. It’s not that the answer is nonsensical—Raskin may well be right. It’s that it’s coming from the CEO of Mindjet, a San Francisco software company devoted to helping workers [...]

We need good pitchers. We need to fix A.J. and develop Phil. We need a great new pitching coach. And next time we make it to the ALCS we need to more some winning drive. The Series result suggest the 2010 Yankees were a vastly inferior team to the Giants. Congrats to them, btw, and thanks for an interesting Series.
