A-Rod Grand Slam, Pettitte HOF Performance; Yankees Win Indians Series

Yankees Memorial Day

A-ROD had 6 RBI on Memorial Day 2010

Alex Rodriguez is 5-5 when opposing pitchers intentionally walk Mark Teixeira to get to him with the bases loaded. This shows me that A-Rod is not ready to fade into obscurity like Ken Griffey, Jr and still has the ability to hit 30- 40 HR a year. Today was A-Rod’s day, but Andy Pettitte (7-1, 2.48) was the real story- 7 innings, no walks, 1 run, 5 K. With every dominant win, Andy Pettitte is improving is case for the Hall of Fame (HOF). I don’t recall Andy Pettitte starting a season like this. Keep in mind he had an elbow injury this year, too.

A-Rod and Robinson Cano hit back-to-back homeruns. It’s amazing- the Cleveland Indians seem to play hard for 7 innings, and then when their starter gets tired, things fall apart in a hurry. Chan Ho Park (7.42)  mopped up and gave up 1 run in 2 innings to make the final score 11-2.

All of the usual suspects got the hits today- Derek Jeter, Brett Gardner, Nick Swisher- actually everyone did. The Yankees banged out 18 hits on Memorial Day. They win this series 3 games to 1.
