Did Mike Scioscia Deserve the AL Manager of the Year?

“Mike Scioscia’s leadership amid the Angels’ Nick Adenhart tragedy earned him AL Manager of the Year”. Wow. I’m in the minority when I type “Wow”. Apparantly this was an “obvious” and “acturate” vote.

All the snotty statheads online said that this was a “no-brainer” due to the fact that he got the Angels together and worked through some injuries to have 97-wins.

Shee-oot, what the heck does Joe Girardi have to do to win the AL Manager of the Year, now? Overcome the death of Chad Gaudin? Anyone who defends Joe Girardi for 2009 Manager of the Year is a Yankees-kiss up, huh? Best record in baseball. Overcame A-Rod’s steroid allegations. Got the bullpen down pat. Kept everyone relaxed, unlike last year. Okay, whatever.

Man, you’d think Ron Gardenhire would have won it, after all that’s what TBS announcer Ron Darling said after Game 163.

How about some Jim Leyland love for turning around the Tigers in the heart of the recession in Detroit?

How about the Texas Rangers making a run under Ron Washington, who gets no respect in Dallas or nationally?

No? Okay.

Let’s talk about the Rockies’ manager Jim Tracy. You may remember his 4-year run with the Dodgers from 2001-2005. Or maybe not. There was some pretty controversial moments when the veterans wanted to beat up the youngsters. That’s why the Dodgers hired Joe Torre.

Okay, okay, maybe you remember how happy the Pirates were when they hired Jim Tracy to turn things around in Pittsburgh in 2006 and 2007. No?

Ah, but in 2009, after Clint Hurdle was mercifully fired, Jim Tracy took over the Rockies and got the Wild Card. Yipeee!

I had this problem. I got a vinyl pool patch and used a thin coating of silicone caulk on it. While deflated, place a heavy object on the patched area to secure the patch. You need to leave it cure for a full day. Don't use too much silicone or it will seep out around the patch and also secure whatever you have holding it down.
