CC Sabathia outduels John Lackey, Yankees beat Angels Game 1 ALCS

In the end, the threat of rain was overhyped and so was Mike Scioscia’s Angels defense. But even if the Angels didn’t make 3 errors and some miscues, they still would have lost to the big grizzle bear CC Sabathia. Once again CC took the postseason ball in Game 1 in 2009 and once again he delivered with a dominant perfromce worthy of previous October legends like John Smoltz or Dave Stewart. Sabathia went 8 innings and only gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He had 8K and only 1 walk. The fans were chanting his name on a 45-degree night.

“That was a great feeling,” Sabathia said. “To have the Stadium rocking and chanting my name, and to be able to get a strikeout — I was pretty pumped up. I don’t really show a lot of emotion a lot of times, but it came out of me there.”

The MEDIA liked to say how CC did not have a good postseason record, and the MEDIA liked to say how the Angels defeated CC twice in 2009. But all of that meant nothing last night. That Angels lineup in STACKED with hitters and CC mowed right through them. What an ace he is.

Johnny Damon also proved his naysayer wrong with 2 hits and 2 runs scored. A-Rod had a sac fly RBI and a collision at the plate. Replays showed that he was safe. Hideki Matsui loves October baseball. Godzilla had 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Mariano Rivera wrapped up the 4-1 game with yet another postseason save.

FOX ANNOUNCERS Tim McCarver and Joe Buck professed their love for each other on air. It was quite touching. Joe said “Happy Birthday, Tim. I couldn’t think of another person I would want to be sitting next to right now”.  Tim 100% echoed his comment.

More proof Tim McCarver is gay:

• He said David Cone and Tino Martinez had good profiles after a FOX camera caught the two Yankees icons in a booth together wearing suits.
• He actually noticed Nick Swisher closed his eyes for a split second when he swung on a pitch and showed it in the replay.
