Sergio Mitre beats Mariners, Jeter and Swisher HR

Sergio Mitre pitched out of trouble and limited the Seattle Mariners to 2 runs (1 earned) in 5.1 innings, while Derek Jeter and Nick Swisher combined for 4 RBI, as the Yankees won 5-2. Robinson Cano and Jose Molina had 2 hits, and Molina had the other RBI. Cano extended his hitting streak to 13 games. Mark Teixeira’s defense was once again exceptional all night.

Dave Roberston, Phil Coke, and Mariano Rivera finished the game. Mo has 35 saves, although I’m beginning to worry about his shoulder, since he gave up a walk and hit before converting the save.
Another great game from the hottest team in baseball. The Yankees post-All Star win-loss record is beyond anything baseball has experienced before. Red Sox can’t keep up- now 7.5 games out.
