Phil Hughes makes his bullpen debut as Yanks beat Rays

Andy Pettitte was great and shaky at the same time. He seemed to have lost his focus after an A-Rod error.

The Yanks hit 4 homeruns to squeak by the Rays 5-3.

Phil Hughes’ bullpen performance was AWESOME. Yankee Stadium fans seem to have a new favorite too, as they shouted “HUUUUGGGH” for Phil as he blew away Ray after Ray.

It’s a shame he was only was allowed to pitch one inning and hadn’t pitched in 8 days…

Phil Coke almost blew it with his control, but a nice visit to the pitching mound by Dave Eiland and some tough love from Jorge Posada straightened him out.

Mariano Rivera was 1-2-3.

The relief pitchers actually ride bulls into the bullpen, but they send them away immediately, so the TV cameras never get a shot of them.

I reckon so, the other contenders haven't got what it takes to manage a big club let alone a country! Big Phil's been there and done that already, he is a great manager who's coached the biggest players in the world and he won't take no s**t which is what we need. He'll speak his mind as well. To be honest with the current crop of managers out there I don't think we'll see anoter English one for a while!

We have had a lot of our key players hurt this season. But the
Yanks have alot of heart this year and it seems as though they all are
pitching in to get this team to stay in 1st place! Wang and Hughes
are a reason to see we are taking any position Giraldi asks for.
Mark TEX is a gold glover on 1st.
Cano is a gold glover hitting machine on 2nd. A rod is finding that his focus is getting hits for
us and fielding on 3rd. Jeter, and
Jorge, and Mo and our pitching staff are "just great" with alot of
    "go get em" attitude..
    I feel like a staff reporter, i wish…
