MELKY, Gardner CLUTCH

It was quite a gutsy battle between the Twins and Yankees tonight. Although advertised as the return of Alex Rodriguez to Yankee Stadium, his return was overshadowed by a close game and the speed of Brett Gardner (single, inside the park HR, and triple).

The irony is that Gardner replaced the Yanks’ hottest hitter, Johnny Damon, after he was ejected. That proves that what seems bad can really turn out to be good.

In the end, the Twins opted to walk Robinson Cano with the bases load to pitch to Melky Cabrera. Melky has been CLUTCH this year.

Phil Hughes struggled with his control, but kept it close.

The controversy in the game occurred when former Mets speedster Carlos Gomez tried to break Mark Teixeira’s elbow and ankle- twice- by running outside of the 1st base path. Gomez and his manager Ron Gardenhire (another former Met) denied it. There was almost a swing out.

    Last night’s game was great!
Hold your breath until the last minute type of game!
I have faith in the yanks and they
    came through again..Everytime they
find themselves with players hurt this year, their back up players are as good as it can get!!
Bruney will be back soon and Coke
and the rest of the bull pen are
    trying to get it together.
    I have faith!!!
