2009 Yankees starting rotation (April)
Going into the season, the 2009 Yankees starting rotation looked like this (ranked in order):
1. C.C. Sabathia
2. Chien-Ming Wang
3. A.J. Burnett
4. Andy Pettitte
5. Joba Chamberlain
After April, it was this:
1. Andy Pettitte
2. A.J. Burnett
3. C.C. Sabathia
4. Joba Chamberlain
5. Phil Hughes
6. Chien-Ming Wang
The major news was that Wang’s hip cost him and the team 3 games… A.J. started hot but a Red Sox bomb and gutty Tigers performance jacked up his ERA (I don’t think he and Jorge Posada are on the same page yet)….Andy was great in his first 3 starts…Sabathia is a workhorse, but slow out of the stall, and is going to improve and become the ace…Hughes had one start and he could be the dark horse that will save the team…Joba is getting ripped for no reason. Although his walks are high and he averages under 6 innings a start, he shouldn’t be judged so harshly on a few starts, especially when he’s 1-0, 3.13 in 23 innings in April.

Joba did great the other night! I was hoping the press and yankee haters would leave him alone or write something encouraging about
him.. He is a little different right now but he will come around and pitch “perfectly”!!!
I guarantee people will start talking about Joba in a good and
positive way again!
