New York Tabloids on C.C. Sabathia, and OPENING DAY news
Hey folks, Snapshot Joe here! Boy, it looks like the Yankees made a huge mistake by getting C.C. Sabathia and Mark Teixeira for all of that money! I mean, we know how important it is to win an EVENT like OPENING DAY, and for the Yanks to get on a STRONG START after last’s year’s debacle. This looks like another LONG YEAR, folks!
MEANWHILE, post game interviews (which can be seen here as long as you don’t use Mozilla Firefox), show that C.C. Sabathia, Joe Girardi, and Joe Posada, just saw OPENING DAY as just another game, just a bad start by C.C. Girardi even made a joke about about not going undefeated this year. Jeez, remember the good ol’ days when George Steinbrenner would have fired somebody after a loss like this?
In OTHER MLB Opening Day news:
The highlights from Monday were so famous that need little description:
Junior.
K-Rod.
Double-switch, as is the D’Backs Tony Clark and Felipe Lopez two switch hitters who hit HR from both sides of the plate.
CC-L.
And of course …
Bonifacio! As in Emilio Bonifacio, who went 4-4 with 3 steals, and an inside-the-park HR.
Looks like whoever picked the Texas Rangers as being the Dark Horse team of the year was correct…The Pirates are making their presence known in the NL Central…Ken Griffey, Jr. once again hit an OPENING DAY for the 8th time in his career. Looks like Tony Vahl was once again correct on his pick…Both LA teams won with strong pitching, a trend that is sure to hold up all year…The Marlins bats continue to be the best in the NL East…Mets GM Omar Minaya realized what the problem was last year- the bullpen- so what did he do? He went out and got two closers- J.J. Putz and K-Rod, who happened to naildown Johan Santana’s pitching gem yesterday. The Mets are THE team to beat this year…Indians fans, with AL 2008 Cy Young Award Winner Cliff Lee getting shelled yesterday, it looks like a sign of more bad things to come…The Cubs are on pace to be 162-0…The Tigers’ pitching doesn’t look good, as the Blue Jays knocked them out…
