Joba Chamberlain DUI court sentence

April 2, 2009
By DailySkew

The judge handed down Joba Chamberlain’s sentencing yesterday for his DUI charge during the offseason. Joba pleaded guilty, and received this sentence:

  • Nine months probation
  • As part of the condition for not going to prison, he cannot drink alcohol during this time
  • Suspended license for 60 days
  • Attend an education alcohol class
  • $400 fine

In other Joba Chamberlain news, some members of the MEDIA are still crying that he should be a relief pitcher, instead of a starter. Get over it, guys!

The 2009 Yankees bullpen looks like this now as we head into the season:
Mariano Rivera
Brian Bruney
Damaso Marte
Edwar Ramirez
Jose Veras
Phil Coke
Jonathan Albaladejo

Plus a AAA minor league system that has Phil Hughes, Ian Kennedy, Alfredo Aceves, Dan Giese, Brett Tomko, and Kei Igawa ready to be recalled at any moment.

If the Yankees bullpen performs like they did last year, the bullpen is more of a sure thing that the starting pitching (who knows how A.J. and C.C. will perform?) Joba needs to be a starter. Period.

Joba got a really unfair sentence!!
His first offense? Bud is behind this. He knows the judge! To harsh
of a sentence! Please, Joba can’t drink? Let me bring to your attention fellow reader’s:
    JIM LEYRITZ!!!! murderer, and drank
again while waiting his sentence and beyond that!!
I hope Joba starts and has a brilliant year!! GO JOBA!! GO JOBA!

    nine month’s probation?
That’s a little stiff don’t you think? I know people who are not
famous who get off the same crime with no probation or fines! Maybe they have to do a few hours of community service, that’s it!!
