Yeah I know it’s “old news” but I wanted to wrap up this dangling plot line: Bobby Abreu, one of the best players in baseball, signed for only $5 million for one year with the LA Angels of Anaheim. There’s only a few bonuses in the contract, based on plate appearances.
“It was tough,” Abreu said. “I thought by November, December, I was going to have a contract. I was looking for something multiyear, but the economic situation right now, everybody’s going through it. So I do understand that.”
Bobby- I have a feeling you will do great for the Angels this year, and the Yankees will miss your bat. Too bad Brian Cashman didn’t call you back.

Mets reach Minors deal with Livan
All the money in the market was gobbled up at the beginning of the offseason, mostly by the Yanks.
Due to the Recession, the market crashed, and these guys are waiting for the phone to ring.
Andruw Jones was an atlanta braves
“superstar”! What a waste of talent
is an understatement! I never liked
him, he was that good!!!
And Tom Glavine? No one is calling him either?
It is so hard for me to see all of
the names of “free agents”!!
Manny, pedro, edmonds, pudge, i mean these guys were superstars not
to long ago!! Now not one of them gets a phone call from any team?
Is it the “old” saying: What have you done for baseball lately?
