Bobby Abreu: Unemployed

Remember Bobby Abreu? His agent and the Cincinnati Reds started discussions earlier in the month, but the phone is no longer ringing either way at this point. Bobby’s agent is trying to find the right contract and fit for his client, and so far no team is buying Venezuelan legend Bobby Abreu.

On the heels of Milton Bradley and Pat Burrell signing with the Rays and Cubs respectively, Bobby is running out of options. Who will sign Bobby Abreu: it’s possible the Braves, Dodgers, Mets, Nationals, Reds, or Angels may give him a try.

That wouldn’t be the only reason. Some employers recognize that those unemployed are more likely to take any job because of their long term unemployment. Employers are trying to protect themselves from someone jumping to another company after deciding to take “any job”. It’s unfair, especially in this economy, but it’s the way it is.

The management or who ever let Abreu leave, made an error in their judgement!
I only hope that Bobby does well this coming season!
