Randy Johnson signs with Giants

Last year, 45-year old future Hall of Famer Randy Johnson was 11-10 with a 3.91 ERA in 30 starts for the Arizona Diamondbacks. On the plus side, he was great after the All-Star Break and still strikes out a lot of guys. However, he has a history of back problems, and we all know he just wants to get 5 more victories for 300 career wins.

So how much do you think that’s worth? How about $8 million dollars from the San Francisco Giants, plus an optional $5 million in performance bonuses and awards?

You’ve got to be kidding me, right? Randy is worth anywhere from $1 to $3 million plus incentive bonuses. $8 million plus just makes the Giants look desperate and hypocritical. Why did that not sign Barry Bonds for $380,000 last year? Oh…that’s right. Bonds was blacklisted from the game.

No wonder Andy Pettitte doesn’t want to accept $10 million on the table from the Yankees. When Randy Johnson is making $8 million+ it raises everyone else’s demands. Shame on the Giants. Although Randy is better than Pedro Martinez at this point, Pedro is around 10 years younger, and has not found any work yet.

    THE GIANTS???????
MAYBE IT IS BECAUSE THAT”S WHAT HE
THINKS HE IS..A GIANT SELF CENTERED
AND “DON’T TOUCH OR INTERVIEW ME” KIND OF A PERSON! If it means so much to him, getting 300 wins then
he should play ball for free and
    then retire. b.o.r.i.n.g.

Exactly- any team was in position to bargain hard. He would have played for minimum wage just to get 5 more means to 300. Yet they gave him a big deal?

The Giants are the best team in the NL West right now. What a screaming good deal for the Giants…
