Brian Cashman flies to Andy Pettitte

On the heels of signing C.C. Sabathia, Brian Cashman met with Andy Pettitte in Texas presumably to hammer out a deal. It has been revealed that Andy’s agents rejected a $10 million one year deal previously, and they are pushing for Andy to make exactly what he did last year: $16 million.

Of course, Andy doesn’t deserve that type of money anymore, and Andy had said to the MEDIA that money wasn’t an issue. Why does Andy allow himself to be pulled in many directions and have people speak for him?

Let’s hope Cashman and Andy can meet somewhere in between- maybe $12 or $13 million for 2009 because I really don’t want Derek Lowe or Ben Sheets (injury prone) to become Yankees.

In other news, the Braves and Yankees are officially bidding for A.J. Burnett‘s servives- it looks like A.J. will get big money and a lot of years from one of those teams.

It looks like Cashman wants a 2009 Yankees pitching staff to be:

C.C. Sabathia
Chien-Ming Wang
A.J. Burnett
Joba Chamberlain
Andy Pettitte
with Phil Hughes and Alfredo Aceves as fill-ins.

Ben Sheets and Derek Lowe are backup plans if A.J. or Andy don’t resign.

Well the "Lord of the Flies" is the pig head that the boys gave to the "Beastie". I don't think we talked about that in class, but maybe the lord is survival and the flies are the boys: They're all trying to get to it.

For GOD’S sake Andy, you don’t need
the $$$$$!!! Tell your agent you will settle for less, you claim to love the game of baseball and you are a YANKEE!!! What more could you
    possibly do with extra $$$$?
Give it to your church, send $$$ to
children who have nothing here in
America! Give the kids a Christmas
    that they will never forget!!!!!
