BREAKING NEWS: Yanks sign Mark Teixeira?

DailyNews is reporting 8-years/$180 million, $5 million signing bonus and a full no-trade clause.

Have fun!

Don Mattingly—>Tino Martinez—>Jason Giambi—>Mark Teixeira

Somehow, I will only believe this deal when I see the press conference.

Teixeira, what will his nick name be? ummmm.
I will have to wait until “John
Sterling” thinks one up for Mark!!
and for those of you who live in the dark(like under the Rays ball
park) John Sterling is the voice of
the New York Yankees! The next world champs!

    1. teixeira.. i can’t even pronounce his name let alone
    root for him!!
    The steinbrenners shit in Jason’s
face and bobby abreu’s face. All
i can say is i will be a loyal fan
of my yankees and i hope we go on
and win a ring for God’s sake!
But the players come and go so frequently, it is like “in the wizard of oz” when dorothy says:
my, people come and go so quickly
    here!Accepting the players who have
long term contracts with the yanks,
players do get traded or are not
offered to return for the next season! i hate change…………

I feel a lot better about the Yankees lineup, which could look something like this:

    Damon CF/LF
    Jeter SS
    Teixeira 1B
    A-Rod 3B
    Matsui DH/LF
    Posada C/DH
    Cano 2B
    Swisher LF/CF
    Nady RF

I’ve seen this movie before. Yanks go out and pay handsomely for a free agent who seemed to be indecisive and everyone is convinced they’ve locked up the next 10 AL pennants. Only between now and spring training, something goes out of whack and it turns into a melodrama.

Obviously I have mixed feelings about this, on the plus side I think Tex’s production should match what we got out of Giambi since 2002 (including the years where Jase was “injured”.)

    Cheat characters aren’t so great.

I remember running a DMB sim where I added three hall of famers (like Tad Williams, Christy Mathewson, and Greg Maddux) to a last place team, to see how much they would improve. It definitely helped.

I wish the Yanks luck with their two All-Stars and Burnett.
