Yankees sell Darrell Rasner to Japan

The New York Yankees sold Darrell Rasner to Japan for $1 million dollars. Rasner, who started 20 games for the Yanks last year, started off as a pleasant surprise a la 2005 Aaron Small , but soon crashed.
Rasner’s 2008 line looked this this: 5-10, 5.40 ERA, 24 games, 113.1 innings, 67K, 39BB.
Obviously he wasn’t in GM Brian Cashman’s 2009 plans as a long-man or backup. Rasner had a great work ethic, but just didn’t have the stuff to be an effective major league starter.
Rasner, a good guy, looks to sign a 2-year deal with the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles of the Pacific League. There will be a culture shock, as Rasner is a small-town guy.
