Will Andy Pettitte and Joe Torre be together again (Dodgers rumor)
With the LA Dodgers losing some starting pitchers, and the Yankees dragging their feet by placing Andy Pettitte at the bottom of their “Things to do list…16) Return Andy’s phone calls”, the rumor mill is saying that Joe and Andy have been talking this winter about a possible reunion.
The rumor is making waves because it makes sense from the emotional and storyline point of view, and because Torre can be persuasive when he needs starters. We shall see…
Andy has said that money is not an issue, and he just wants one more year with the Yanks, but Brian Cashman and the brain trust are focused on C.C. Sabathia, A.J. Burnett, Jake Peavy and Derek Lowe, while once again Andy is on the back burner.
Granted Andy will have his usual physical and mental problems next year, but’s he’s goof for 14 wins, and he seemed willing to take a hometown discount with the Yanks for 2009. With Mike Mussina retiring, it was assumed Andy would be penciled in as the “veteran”.
I personally support Andy in whatever decision he makes.

Torre is a great recruiter. Andy needs to be wanted. It would be fitting for him to finish up with his father-figure.
