A-Rod accidentally admits Yankees have no chance
On the heels of the Seattle Mariners defeating Andy Pettitte and Mike Mussina, the Toronto Blue Jays are now a half game in front of the New York Yankees in the Wild Card race.
(Boston leads, Minnesota is 6.5 back, Toronto is 8 back, and the Yankees are 8.5 back.)
A reporter asked A-Rod about that, and he said:
“Toronto’s been playing really well. I’ll tell you what; a lot of people should be happy they’re not in the playoff race, because they would be the scariest team with the 1-2 punch they’ve got over there with Halladay and Burnett.”
The reporter asked him, following that line of reasoning, if he believes that the Yankees are out. A-Rod responded as follows:
“I’m too tired to answer that. You confused me on that one.”
