Kamala Umaga
The DailySkew has argued for a long time that professional wrestling is an allegory of real life.
From radio hosts being managers and announcers, to politicians cutting promos, to storylines that no one remembers, to everyone needing a gimmick to make it in the world (and the expectation that everyone must have a gimmick).
Kamala was once one of the most feared wrestlers in the old NWA and AWA territories. And when he finally went to the WWF in the 1980’s he was a savage unstoppable monster. Seeing him lose on TV was rare. He had a vicious feud with Hulk Hogan, too.
So when I came across a recent match that saw Kamala the Ugandan Giant get dominated by Umaga and “do the job” in a few minutes, I thought of an analogy.
There comes a time in your life when your accomplishments are forgotten and you just need some money or exposure. You swallow your pride and put a young lion over you…you kinda pass the torch in an unspoken way.
Watching this “match”, all I can say in my mind was “bull $h!t!!”:
To think…in 1986, Kamala sold out Madison Square Garden, and gave Hogan a run for his money:

kamala should visit “abdullah” the butcher and don’t for one minute think that “butcher” is a gimmick!!
kamala made $$ against hulk be cause mcmann must of realized he
had not used kamala for a while!
abdullah would have destroyed kamama!!!! think of that dream match!
Abdullah is actually the man to say that real life is fake. He obviously tricked you, because it is a gimmick. Abdullah said he needed one to make it in life, as we all do.
Abdullah and Kamala teamed up and fought against each other. Don’t underestimate Kamala’s skills.
I dont see any simpsons animal race here.
and how this is a metaphor for how politicians dont understand the economy, ill never understand.
the socio-economic themes you are able to read into this are deeper than anything I can.
i guess your powers of perception are just much deeper than mine.
Sorry, RAW. I just linked a page to my name to make my signature “official”. It was not supposed to relate directly to economic theory.
oh.
Politics is like professional wrestling,” stated Dr. Richard Hoffman, president of NECo. “It’s completely fabricated.”
“You see, much like wrestlers, politicians make speeches in front of cameras to gain support and verbally bash their opponents. Then, they enter the ring — in their case, a place like the congressional chamber — and spar with other politicians until someone is pinned, so to speak. The passage or defeat of a bill is equivalent to being pinned, or disqualified.”
