Paul Byrd Flies to RED SOX

By DailySkew

DailySkew whipping boy PAUL BYRD (7-10, 4.53) is now on the BOSTON RED SOX.

“Give me a few minutes before I talk,” Byrd said as he packed up in the Indians clubhouse. “I’m not lucid right now. I’m saying funny things. Give me a half-hour and I’ll talk.”

Byrd was claimed off waivers by the Sox, and traded for a minor leaguer or player to be named later, i.e. no one of value.

Tim Wakefield is on the DL, and the wanted a dependable pitcher (Byrd has been great since the All-Star break).

With the Tampa Bay Rays placed Carl Crawford and Evan Longoria on the DL with serious injuries, the balance of power may have shifted.

The Yanks don’t have a chance now. Remember last year? Byrd beat them in the post-season.

I’m trying to figure out why the Yankees didn’t claim Byrd. The White Sox too, after losing Contreras.

Byrd will, at the very least, be a nice replacement for Buchholz in the starting rotation until the kid gets his act together. Nice move by the Sox since the cost was minimal. Byrd’s overall record is misleading because the Indians have played horribly this season, but since the All-Star break, Byrd’s been lights out.

R.I.P. Bernie Mac, Isaac Hayes, and the Yankees’ playoff hopes.

Nine more years of A-Fraud to go. The decline though should be real fun. Enjoy!

Time to chalk it up. There’s no stopping the Red Sox from winning the Wild Card now.

If the Yanks let Marte, I-Rod, Giambi, Pettitte, amd Abreu go, that’s a hell of a potential draft in 2009. That’s something like 10 first round or supplemental round picks.
