Game 76: Pettitte ends Reds menance

By DailySkew

After winning 7 in a row, and getting solid pitching performances from Mike Mussina and Dan Giese, it was awfully embarrassing to lose a series to the lowly Cincinnati Reds at Yankees Stadium.

Andy Pettitte (8-5, 4.04) continued his hot streak, and solidified his reputation as a losing steak killer. Andy has a 19-inning scoreless streak. Andy hurled 6 scoreless innings before a storm hit the Bronx. Edwar Ramirez threw a scoreless 7th. Kyle Farnsworth gave a up a HR in the 8th, and Mariano Rivera pitched 1 1/3 of scoreless ball to convert save number 21/21. The man is a machine.

The offense was powered by Jason Giambi (3-3, 2RBI) and Jorge Posada (2-4, 1 RBI)

Final score 4-2.
