Game 75: Reds win Yankees series, 6-0
The Cincinnati Reds had another pitcher’s duel at Yankees Stadium, with the same result: a Reds victory. The Yankees Dan Giese (1-2, 0.64) was scoreless until the 7th inning. He made a throwing error, but seemed to have summoned the will to get out of a jam with no runs given up. However, the Reds scored, and Jose Veras gave up a HR for the final nail in the coffin.
Daryl Thomson (who?) shut the Yanks out for 5 innings.
The Yanks squandered the few opportunities they had.
Geise received rave reviews, and was a tough luck loser.
“It’s tough to replace Chien-Ming, but he did a hell of a job to keep us in the ballgame,” Jorge Posada said. “That’s all you can ask for.”
Final score 6-0.
’nuff said.
