Game 72: A-Rod powers Yankees over Padres
A-Rod is showing everyone why he is the reigned 2007 AL MVP, as he connected for another HR (4 days in a row) and had 3 hits as the Yankees won the San Diego Padres series.
Even with a 78-minute rain delay in the Bronx, the Yanks still came on top 8-5. They knocked Padres ace and reigning NL Cy Young winner Jake Peavy out after 4.
Darrell Rasner (4-4, 3.64) worked real hard over 5 innings (2 runs only) and kept the team in the game. Although he walked 5, he preserved and worked his butt off, including a ridulous 41-pitch third inning. He and Joe Girardi had a discussion after the 5th.
Edwar Ramirez and Kyle Farnsworth blew it, allowing 3 runs in 3 innings. However, Mariano Rivera is now 19/19 in Saves!
Yanks are the hottest they have been all year, winning 6 in a row.
