Game 46: Rasner, A-Rod dominate Orioles
A-Rod went 3-4 with another HR (and had his 2nd one stolen by the umpires), and the Yankees offense finally got hot. But the real story in my book is that Darrell Rasner (3-0, 1.89) once again was excellent. He is professional, a hard worker, mixes his pitches up, has unbelievable control, great movement, and is an underdog.
He didn’t even get a headline in the newspapers today even though he shut down the O’s for 7 innings, something Mike Mussina didn’t even come close to doing.
Anyway, the Yanks looked great last night. Joba pitched innings 8 + 9. It was announced after the game he is getting ready to join the starting rotation. I think this a great move. #1 reason is that he hasn’t gotten a chance to pitch consistently since the Yankees are under .500. Might as well give him a chance to start and win some ballgames, especially since the Yanks still don’t have a #5 starter.
