Game 40: Rays beat Mariano Rivera

Chien-Ming Wang was solid once again through 7 innings, Joba Chamberlain pitched a scoreless 8th, Farnsworth threw a shaky 9th, Hideki Matsui tied the game in the 9th with a solo shot, Mariano Rivera pitched a scoreless 10th, but then lost in the 11th on a few cheap hits and a stolen base.

The Tampa Bay Rays are in 1st place. Eat it and weep.

The Yanks couldn’t score off of Edwin Jackson again. The Yanks have been averaging scoring 4 runs a game, and average giving up 4 runs a game. That’s a .500 team. I guess it could be expected since A-Rod and Jorge Posada have done nothing all year. I mean, it is the same team as last year, but with A-Rod and Jorge’s production missing. Thankfully the bullpen has been revamped and 100% better than 2007.
