With the revelation that a photo may exist showing Roger Clemens was at Jose Canseco’s infamous barbecue- you know, the one Roger has no memory of being at even though his wife, maid, and kids were there-and Brian McNamee and the maid said Roger was there- Roger’s attorney is now softening up his stance:
“We know that baseball announcers broadcasting the games at the time said Roger was not at the party. Jose Canseco has said Roger was not at the party, as has Canseco’s former wife. Roger was playing golf at the time of the party, and has stated that he may have stopped by the Canseco house after playing golf before heading to the ballpark for the game.”

As Tony Vahl and Damian Hospital were saying, it’s only a matter of time before Clemens starts to change details of his story and “rememberences” a la Pete Rose. Granted, Clemens said he “could” have been there under oath:
“So could I have gone by (Canseco’s) house later that afternoon and dropped my wife or her brother-in-law, the people that golfed with me? Sure, I could have. But at the time of the day that I would have expressed it to be, I was on my way to the ballpark. I know one thing. I wasn’t there having huddled up with somebody trying to do a drug deal. I know that for sure.”
But before this statement, he spent a VERY long time saying he was 100% sure he wasn’t there, and even had the golf store receipt to “prove” he wasn’t there.
By the way, I wonder what type of deal Jose Canseco and Roger Clemens have together, since Jose lied under oath that Roger was not there….

Wisconsin Senate GOP backpeddles; Walker ups the ante
Really he thinks that? Playing golf during a time of war sends the wrong signal, tell that to the soldiers who have made their own little golf course inside the green zone. As a matter of fact I'm playing Sunday morning and even though I don't believe in a christian god like the religious people do, I do believe there is a higher power and in that vein I will offer up a prayer to the golf gods that all the hacker soldiers get to come home and play some golf on a real course again.
I've decided I'm on the players' side.
They've been like endentured slavs forever…even when paid $98798772492 they're not getting a square deal compared to the owners–and they have a limited shelf life as commodities.
I feel their greed kicks in when they won't accept pay caps. But how do you get any Real American to agree to the idea that they can't be as rich as several Croseus's?
Look–I'm a Mets fan, the worst-case big dollar whores in b-ball. But I'm getting a sense that Mike Piazza, and Mo Vaughn are getting the message, and its decent great guy players like this that, if they're allowed by the press to explain their side, might be b-ball's hope.
sigh I miss it as a religion, I admit.
Could be worse. Could be Mo Vaughn.
