Kei Igawa looking for fresh start

Well, Spring Training is here, so that means DailySkew baseball will once again blog about Kei Igawa, the Japanese import who- so far- has been making Hideki Irabu look like Nolan Ryan.
I like Igawa as a person, but he really has shown he does not belong in the major leagues.

He walks too much, has no stamina, and doesn’t have any psychology like Moose or Maddux do.

I make good passenger in utility cart, no?

If there is any consolidation, Igawa was able to get lefties out (relative to his inability to get righties out) in my 2007 Diamond Mind Baseball disk. But he still finished with an ERA over 6 or 7, just like real life.

Here’s what happened yesterday, courtesy of the Daily News:

Igawa met for 30 minutes with Joe Girardi, pitching coach Dave Eiland and general manager Brian Cashman, discussing last year’s debacle and what they could do to improve his performance this season.

“Just trying to get to know him,” Girardi said. “It’s a big adjustment, so we’re just trying to continue to make his transition easier.”

“Last year, I had a tough time adjusting to the major league spring training,” Igawa said through an interpreter. “This year, after having a good talk with Brian, Joe and Dave, I believe I can better prepare myself for a much better season.”

As of right now, it appears the $46 million dollar investment by Brian Cashman looks like a sunk cost. So let’s all pray for Igawa to do SOMETHING positive next year, besides sitting in the passenger side of that big, red utility cart.

Reunited at least- Edwar Ramirez and Kei Igawa: two bullpen pariahs from the 2007 Yankees.

WHAT language are they speaking? Anyway here is the translation:

KEI: “I hope this new manager, also called “Joe”- will have more patience with me, no?”

EDWAR: “Si! Otherwise I have to drive you around all year in this utility cart in the minor leagues AGAIN.”

KEI: “Maybe you learn me how to drive this year, no?

EDWAR: “No! I want to pitch in majors with my idol, Mariano again, OK?”

KEI: “You have idol and countryman. But Godzilla won’t even talk with me because he say I suck.”

EDWAR: “You do! Just stay focus, mi amigo, okay? Just let me drive, so you don’t crash into anything or run over our new manager, also named Joe.”

KEI: “Okay, my friend. I thank you. What are you doing later? Our new manager also named Joe has a 1 AM curfew, maybe you show me these Tampa nightclubs?”

EDWAR: “No! Mariano has a Bible study group later.”

KEI: “Ah! Okay, no problem! Maybe Carl Pavano show me?”

EDWAR: “Si! I saw him with his head down in the corner. He is here, too, although he will not pitch this year.”

Exactly! sorry if i’m funny? lol. I don’t agree with people who do this… for gods sake if i like someone, i’m going to ask them out and take that chance regardless, who cares who likes, or dislikes that? it’s your life… if you spend it around what other people think you should do, then you’re wasting it away minute by minute. Just my two cents…

I've been so happy to watch our Tigers revive themselves from the scraps of last season. It's so nice to see how we've turned it around in so many ways. I want more interviews with our new pitching coach and less time with the Twitter. (I don't really have any use for Twitter either)
Thank goodness our Tigers are back to beating up on the Royals, we can get our show back on the road!

who’s on first? don’t use the excuse that these two players
are not yet familiar with american culture, neither am i and i have lived in the U.S.A. my whole 58 years!
i have a great friend who is a pharmacist and he naive and eager
about doing his job to the best of
his ability! if he were chinese or
    spanish the perscriptions are still
written in english for him. what i am trying to say to igawa, is to go night school during the off season and learn english so hopefully you will understand our new pitching coach this season!! i hope this coach is great because he is following in a great man’s foot prints!

i demand that u feature these two as a comedy team from now on.two guys not familiar with american culture, who hang out in the bullpen watching the big stars, and give up homeruns when they actually do come in.they are both naive and eager.this would be a great sitcom.i of course would be the bullpen catcher and give them confidence.
